Atlanta-Area Principal Arrested On Child Sex Abuse Charges
A Douglas County principal caught in a child p****graphy sting told an undercover officer that he had ‘taught other girls’ about sex, according to an arrest warrant. John Harold McGill was escorted into a DeKalb County courtroom Tuesday for his first appearance. He is charged with computer or electronic p****graphy and child exploitation. He is being held under a $50,000 bond. Sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning, McGill responded to a Craigslist ad for a mother seeking someone for her teenage daughter, according to the arrest warrant obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The warrant says McGill made contact with the undercover officer posing online as the mother both via email and phone, and told her “he has taught other girls and he would go slow.” McGill was suspended as principal of Mt. Carmel Elementary School pending the investigation. At a school board meeting Monday night, Sandra Williams was named interim principal. Williams is a retired Douglas County administrator who served as principal of the school from 2002 to 2007.
